Hello and welcome! I’m Kris.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and my practice is dedicated to helping mothers with perinatal mood disorders as well as individual, couple, and family struggles. I live in Orange County California with my husband, our two kids, and our crazy dog (who is more like our third child). Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little more about me and how we can work together.
My Connection To What You’re Going Through
Hearing someone say “I understand” when they haven’t experienced what you’re going through can leave you feeling irritated and even more isolated than you already do. I want you to know that I understand because I’ve actually been there. I’ve experienced postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum OCD, difficult life transitions, relationship struggles, etc….and all as a mom.
With the postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety, I understand that you feel the saddest you’ve ever felt during a time when you thought you were suppose to feel the happiest. I understand that your anxiety may be so bad that it feels as though you might crawl out of your skin every time the baby monitor makes the slightest sound or with every nightfall because you know it would be another night without sleep. I understand that you are over-scheduling, over-controlling, and over-reading. I understand that you want to give up, go away, and disappear. I understand that you cry when you leave your kids and cry when you have to pick them up. I understand you feel shame, guilt, anger, and frustration.
I understand you are transitioning from an independent women to a full time mom or even returning to work and leaving your child. I’ve left a career to stay at home with my child and I’ve experienced going back to school and work with two kids.
When it comes to relationships, I also understand you are struggling in your marriage, feeling like the worst parent that ever lived, and isolating from friends and family.
So, when I say “I understand”…trust me, I understand!
What I want you to know is, although you don’t feel like it right now….
- You WILL be ok!
- You WILL start feeling better
- You WILL stop crying and blaming yourself
- You WILL enjoy your life with your children and your partner
- You WILL find the Warrior that is deep inside
- I WILL help you get there!
I use a very comfortable and relational approach through the use of humor, empathy, and goal directed conversation that will focus on symptom identification and reduction. We will be a team and walk through this together. We will focus on re-connecting with your authentic self and integrating your “new self” into a whole person that will have a positive and lasting change to the feelings you are struggling with. We will focus on learning to embrace your role in any facet of your life and empower your identity as a Warrior at any stage of your journey. I am passionate about helping moms and it is VERY important to me that you are able to have access to help in a variety of ways so I offer four different ways we can meet. I will come to your home, meet you in the community, meet you online, or see you in an office. Click on 4 ways to meet for further details about all of these options.
What You Can Expect
You can call me, text me, or email me. Depending on how you choose to contact me, I will return your message within 24 hours. Please know that although I take every reasonable and required effort to protect your privacy, I still request that you only leave as much information as you are comfortable sharing via text or email. When we speak, we will spend some time talking about why you are seeking therapy, my approach, and how we will work as a team to achieve results. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule a session in one of the four options listed below.
At this time, I offer 4 ways we can meet for therapy.
Read more about the individual services on my “4 ways to meet” page. There I discuss the specific difference of each session option as well as the specialized services that are offered.
Contact me TODAY so we can start you on your journey towards a more fulfilled, happier, and stronger you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
